The distinctive hand-woven textiles of Odisha in unusual patterns and vibrant colours have supported a thriving cottage industry of Appliqué Work, Brass & Bell Metal, Horn Work, Lacquer, Papier Mache, Silver Filigre, Stone Carving, Tribal Combs, Wood Carving, Odissi Handlooms. The Odisha is famous for its silk ikat weaves created by an intricate process called the "bandha" in which warp and weft threads are tie-dyed to produce the pattern on the loom while weaving. Typical design motifs include rows of birds and animals, fish, seashells, rudraksh beads and temple spires. Sambalpur, Berhampur, Mayurbhanj and Nuapatna produce a striking range in tassar silk with a brilliance, glaze and texture that is unmatched. The rare silk fabric produced at Nuapatna in Cuttack district embellished with verses from the Gitagovinda is used to dress the idols at the Jagannath Temple. The masters are well versed with the century’s old art of silk worm cultivation and create silk ties, stoles, furnishings and dress materials apart from saris. Thousands of weavers are inhabited in remote villages living with ageold traditions, creating superb workmanship on silk, cotton,tusser fabrics.The weavers of each region work in their own distinctive style.the weavers at Nuapatna, who weave texts from religious scriptures into special silk ikat used for the rituals inside the temple. The southern Odisha Bomkai saris are also of high quality. Traditional saris and other varieties of cloth like bed covers, table linen etc is also brilliantly weaving by the weavers. The Odisha is traditional applique art is used to make handicrafts and furnishings. Predominantly used colours are red, white, black, green and yellow. Pipli, Butapalli, Khallikote, Tushra and Chikiti are centers known for this colourful craft, creating umbrellas, canopies, fans and lampshades. Applique art has been inspired by religion, and continue to offer shade to Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra. Stone carving is a very major handicraft of Odisha. As is evident from the innumerable archaeological monuments, rock-cut sculptures, caves and temples built for centuries and embellished with most beautiful and intricately carved statue and other adornments, the art of carving in stone had reached in Odisha dizzy heights of excellence perfected through centuries of disciplined efforts of generations of artisans. After having breakfast drive to Dhenkanal via Nuapatna. The Nuapatna is famous for Khandua Silk and Ikat sarees like khandua,Jala, Bomkai. Arrive and check into the hotel. Afternoon visit Sadeibareni village to see Dhokra Metal Work. Overnight at the hotel.
After morning breakfast drive to Sonepur and check into the hotel. Then leave to explore the textile villages around the temple town Sonepur. You will start visit Sagarpalli Village and also Baidyanathpur to see a number of Silk, Tassar weavers at their work and learn how they produce these beautiful designs. Overnight in the hotel at Sonepur.
Today early morning boat ride at Mahanadi River to enjoy Sunrise. Then proceed to Barapali to visit the textile market. Also visit the various cooperative weaver societies and the textile centers. Overnight stay in a hotel at Baragad.
After having breakfast Start drive to Sambalpur to see the best sarees in exotic design named sambalpuri Pata, bichtrapuri etc. This place is famous for cotton tassar, bapta with jalla. Visit the various textile centers. Catch the overnight train for Puri.
Upon your arrival at Puri Railway Station and escorted to the beach resort. Rest of the morning free to relax. Afternoon start for Textile Village of Alandhua where you will see weavers weaving traditional Wrappers, Napkins etc. Then start visit Muslim village of Pipili. It is famous for designing beautiful Applique handicrafts. It is a town of artisans famous for their colourful fabrics. Overnight at beach resort at Puri.
After morning breakfast and start full day free in Puri to relax and enjoy the beaches. If interested can visit Jagannath Temple and other various Temples around Puri. In the evening you will enjoy the beach. Overnight at the resort.
In the early morning check out hotel. If time permits visit the extraordinary sun temple at Konark. Transfer to Bhubaneswar Airport or Railway Station to board flight / train for onward destination.
